Uptown Whittier Offers Eclectic Shopping

December 9, 2009

Take a leisurely stroll through Uptown Whittier, and you will be surprised at the variety of shops contained in an 8-square block area in this charming southern California community.

Stop in at Herbie’s Natural Foods on the corner of Whittier Boulevard and Painter Avenue for a great selection of all things natural. A favorite stop for natural foodies since 1985, Herbie’s storefront, with its bright colors and chock-full-of-goods display windows are impossible to resist. So is their juice bar, by the way!

Stroll west from Whittier Boulevard a few blocks to Greenleaf Avenue, where more must-see shops await. Lovell’s is a multi-media store which specializes in used CDs, DVDs, and VHS videos. If you’re a vinyl purist, you’ll find lots to peruse in the record section. You could spend hours pouring through their collections! Lovell’s has a good selection of new merchandise, too. Also along Greenleaf Avenue and continuing with our previously owned theme, Melrose Vintage is a great spot to find vintage boots, shoes, and apparel.

Round out your Uptown outing with a peek into the Little Old Bookshop on Greenleaf and Bailey Street, where you will find a full compliment of popular reads as well as intriguing rare books and hard-to-come-by first editions.
